Composition & Form
Glimepiride 2 mg (sulfonylurea – stimulates insulin release)
Metformin 500 mg PR (biguanide – decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity)
Zoryl M 2 is a prolonged-release bilayer tablet, designed for once‑daily administration.
Indication
Approved for type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially when single-agent therapy (metformin or a sulfonylurea) doesn’t achieve adequate glycemic control
Dosage & Administration
Once daily, to be taken with food to minimize gastrointestinal upset
Tablets should be swallowed whole, without crushing or chewing
Common Side Effects
Hypoglycemia: sweating, tremors, dizziness, headache—particularly if meals are missed or alcohol is consumed
Gastrointestinal complaints: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, metallic taste, flatulence, abdominal discomfort
Weight gain may occur due to glimepiride
Vitamin B12 deficiency, especially with long-term metformin use
Rare/Serious Risks
Lactic acidosis (rare but serious, linked to metformin)—risk rises in kidney impairment, dehydration, heavy alcohol use; symptoms include muscle pain, difficulty breathing, dizziness

Contraindications
