Ziten-M Tablet Description

Ziten-M is a combination oral antidiabetic medication commonly prescribed to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Composition:

Teneligliptin (20 mg) – a DPP-4 inhibitor

Metformin (500 mg or 1000 mg) – a biguanide class drug

Mechanism of Action:

Teneligliptin increases insulin secretion and lowers glucagon levels by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, thereby improving blood sugar control.

Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.

Uses:

Controls blood sugar levels in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Often used when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy don’t provide adequate glycemic control

Dosage:

Typically taken once or twice daily with meals

Dosage depends on the patient’s blood glucose levels and physician’s recommendation

Common Side Effects:

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (especially from metformin)

Headache

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially if taken with other antidiabetic drugs

Precautions:

Not for use in Type 1 Diabetes

Avoid in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment

Use with caution in elderly patients.
